In the old days, the conventional wisdom around scope mounting involved getting the scope as low as possible, bringing it in close alignment with the bore. Those days are over. Similarly to the trend with ARs, today the recommendation is about ergo – a heads up position is better for shooter comfort and performance behind the rifle. Aim for something in the ballpark of 1.5″.
One Piece Mounts #
Unless you’re trying to save ounces, modern one piece mounts offer the shooter tons of flexibility. Mount data cards, red dots, laser range finders – if it helps you get on target, range a target, or level your rifle, you can probably add it to your mount. Or, keep it simple if you like – you still get a rock solid single unit to hold your glass investment.
I use an Area 419 Tactical One Piece mount. The machining quality and feature set on these is what we’ve come to expect from Area 419.
Rings #
You can’t go wrong with Seekins rings if you want to save weight but still get a quality matched set.
